The group arrives at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO). Participants are met by a representative of PK Adventure and transferred to a hotel in Arusha.
Note: The hotel cost only includes breakfast. Check-in starts at 2:00 PM.
After breakfast around 7:30 AM, your safari guide will meet you at the hotel to start the day. Once you’ve connected, you’ll depart for Tarangire National Park, where your first game drive will begin by 10:00 AM.
Tarangire offers the chance to spot a wide range of wildlife, including lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and more. The park is particularly well-known for its large herds of elephants, which often gather near the Tarangire River, their main water source.
Since this is a wild, untamed environment, specific animal sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, your guide will use every tool at their disposal to help you encounter as many creatures as possible. Altezza guides stay in constant contact via radio, sharing updates to locate rare species.
You’ll be provided with a packed lunch during a break, after which the safari will resume. Later in the day, you’ll be driven to your hotel near Lake Manyara, where you can relax and enjoy stunning views of the Great Rift Valley right from your room.
Start the day early with breakfast before heading out to Lake Manyara. This park is threaded with underground streams, creating lush habitats that attract an impressive variety of birds—like the iconic pink flamingos—as well as numerous forest-dwelling animals.
Around midday, you’ll stop at the Maji Moto hot springs, where your driver will hand you a packed lunch. After this refreshing break, the safari continues, and by evening you’ll return to your hotel to rest. Get ready for the next day’s adventure to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, renowned for its extraordinary range of wildlife!
It’s best to start your day early to make the most of the time when wildlife is most active. Depending on your preference, breakfast can be enjoyed at the hotel or packed as a lunchbox to eat during your safari. At 6:30 AM, you will set off for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving at the crater after about an hour’s drive.
Ngorongoro is one of Tanzania’s most renowned parks, boasting the highest density of animal species per square kilometer. While exploring the crater, you may encounter buffalo, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, and smaller cats like caracals and servals. If luck is on your side, you might even glimpse a rhinoceros, a rare and endangered resident.
Around midday, you’ll stop by the lakeside for lunch, where packed meals will be provided. Following lunch, your safari continues, and later in the afternoon, you will be transferred onward to Serengeti National Park.
En route, there’s an opportunity to visit a memorial honoring Bernhard and Michael Grzimek, two West German conservationists whose work was instrumental in preserving Northern Tanzania’s parks. Their story is detailed in the book Serengeti Shall Not Die, which is available for purchase on Amazon.
As evening falls, you’ll arrive at your accommodation nestled in the heart of the Serengeti Valley, ready to rest before the adventures ahead.
Today you’ll venture into the world-famous Serengeti National Park, one of Tanzania’s largest and most wildlife-rich reserves. Expect to encounter iconic African animals such as lions, antelopes, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and zebras. With some luck, you might also spot elusive cheetahs, serval cats, and other rare savannah inhabitants.
The Serengeti is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its vital ecosystem, incredible biodiversity, and the spectacular Great Migration that unfolds here each year. It also served as the real-life inspiration for Disney’s “The Lion King.” But unlike the movie, the Serengeti offers an authentic experience of untamed wilderness — raw, breathtaking, and unforgettable.
Your exploration will focus on the central Serengeti, particularly the stunning Seronera region, known for its picturesque landscapes and abundant wildlife.
Your adventure continues in the heart of the Serengeti, in the vast and vibrant Seronera region. This expansive area is teeming with wildlife, and it’s impossible to see it all in just one day. Today, your guide will take you to new spots and introduce you to fascinating animals, giving you a deeper and broader perspective of Seronera’s rich ecosystem.
The Serengeti is home to some of Africa’s rarest creatures — including rhinos, leopards, serval cats, and caracals. This second day of safari significantly boosts your chances of encountering these elusive species in their natural habitat.
This is your final day in central Serengeti. Every day in the savannah provides something new and exciting, you will not have a repeat of previous days, but will experience something genuinely new: yesterday’s lazy lions might be on the prowl today, elephants that walked away will be curious today. It is also an excellent chance to see the famous Kopjes – these remnants of volcanic rock from ancient eruptions are a picturesque part of the Seronera landscape. Animals love to rest in their shade, providing ideal photographs of your time in Central Serengeti.
You’ll also see the Simba Rock – Remember the opening scene of “The Lion King” where Mufasa lifts up baby Simba to see all the savannah? Well, you can see it in real life! In Seronera, visit the inspiration for The Lion King, and see the exact rock that was copied for the cartoon.
Rest in the hotel and transfer to the airport.
Note: Hotel check-out is at 10:00 AM. In case you need a late check-out before your evening flight, you have the option to extend your hotel stay for an extra fee. Let your manager know in advance if you need a late check-out.
Please Note:
- By default our tours include shared accommodation in twin/double rooms, unless requested and agreed otherwise. Single supplement is available upon request. Please refer to the program to see your accommodation arrangements
- Moshi and Arusha-based accommodations usually include breakfast only, unless requested and agreed otherwise. Please refer to the program to see your meal plans on each night
- Most safari lodges usually do not include tea, coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks not to have you overpay for beverages you don’t need. You will be able to order and pay for drinks at the hotels’ restaurants
- Tented lodges are the most common type of accommodation in savannah. Many of them work on solar energy. This sometimes means bucket showers, limited wi-fi and no hair dryers, all in an effort to reduce environmental impact. We encourage you to do some basic research on the accommodations in your program to ensure the safari matches your travel style
