The group arrives at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO). Participants are met by a representative of PK Adventure and transferred to a hotel in Arusha.
Note: The hotel cost only includes breakfast. Check-in starts at 2:00 PM.
After breakfast at your hotel (around 7:30 AM), your professional safari guide will meet you in the lobby. Once you’re ready, you’ll set off for Tarangire National Park, where your first game drive begins by approximately 10:00 AM.
Famous for its large elephant population, Tarangire offers incredible opportunities to observe these majestic animals up close as they gather near the life-sustaining Tarangire River. In addition to elephants, you may encounter lions, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and other classic African wildlife.
Please remember: the safari takes place in a completely wild environment. While wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, your guide will do everything possible to ensure an unforgettable experience. Using dedicated radio channels, Altezza guides collaborate and share updates to help locate rarer species across the park.
Around midday, you’ll enjoy a packed lunch in a scenic picnic spot. After lunch, your game drive continues through the diverse landscapes of Tarangire until late afternoon.
By evening, you’ll be transferred to your next accommodation—on the way to Ngorongoro Crater, the next breathtaking stop on your adventure.
To make the most of your day, you’ll depart from your hotel as early as 6:30 AM, when wildlife in the Ngorongoro Crater is at its most active. Depending on your preference, breakfast can either be served at the hotel or packed for you to enjoy on the way.
After about an hour’s drive, you’ll descend into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning landscapes and exceptionally high concentration of wildlife per square kilometer. This unique ecosystem is home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, and rare predators like caracals and servals. With some luck, you might even spot a black rhinoceros, one of the most endangered animals in Africa.
Around midday, you’ll stop by the picturesque lakeside for a picnic lunch with your provided lunchboxes. After a relaxing break, your game drive will continue, offering more opportunities to explore this extraordinary natural amphitheater.
In the afternoon, you’ll begin your scenic drive toward Serengeti National Park, another of Tanzania’s crown jewels. On the way, you’ll have the option to stop at a memorial site dedicated to Bernhard and Michael Grzimek, two German conservationists who played a vital role in protecting Northern Tanzania’s national parks. Their remarkable story is chronicled in the book “Serengeti Shall Not Die”, which is available online for USD 10–25.
By evening, you will arrive and check in at your lodge or tented camp located in the heart of the Serengeti, ready to rest and recharge for tomorrow’s full-day safari.
Today, you’ll explore the most iconic safari destination in the world — Serengeti National Park. Spanning nearly 15,000 square kilometers, the Serengeti is one of Africa’s largest and most celebrated parks, home to an incredible variety of wildlife.
You can expect to encounter lions, elephants, antelopes, giraffes, buffaloes, and zebras. With a bit of luck and your guide’s expertise, you may also spot rarer species like cheetahs, serval cats, and other elusive predators of the savannah.
A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Serengeti is globally recognized for its ecological importance, the density and diversity of its wildlife, and the Great Migration—one of the most spectacular natural events on Earth.
The day will be spent exploring the central Serengeti, specifically the breathtaking Seronera region, known for its rich wildlife and classic savannah landscapes. This area is especially renowned for frequent predator sightings, thanks to the abundance of prey and permanent water sources.
Did you know? The Serengeti served as the inspiration for Disney’s The Lion King. But unlike in animation, life here is raw, untamed, and breathtakingly real—a true window into the wild heart of Africa.
Your adventure continues deep in the central Serengeti, within the vast and vibrant Seronera area. This immense landscape is teeming with life, and it’s simply impossible to take it all in during a single day.
Today, your expert guide will lead you to new spots and reveal fascinating wildlife encounters, giving you a comprehensive perspective of Seronera’s rich ecosystem.
The Serengeti is home to some of Africa’s rarest and most elusive animals, including rhinos, leopards, serval cats, and caracals. Spending a second day here significantly boosts your chances of spotting these extraordinary creatures in their natural habitat.
Every day on the savannah is unique — no two moments are the same. What you saw yesterday will never be exactly repeated. Today, the lazy lions of yesterday might be on the prowl, elephants that wandered off may come closer, and who knows — a curious cheetah might even climb atop your safari vehicle for a closer look!
This day also offers a fantastic chance to visit the famous Kopjes — striking remnants of volcanic rock from ancient eruptions that dot the Seronera landscape. These natural formations provide shade where animals love to rest, creating perfect photo opportunities to capture your unforgettable Serengeti experience.
You’ll also visit Simba Rock, the real-life inspiration behind the iconic scene in The Lion King, where Mufasa lifts baby Simba to survey the savannah. Stand at this legendary spot and see the very rock that was recreated for the beloved film.
Rest in the hotel and transfer to the airport.
Note: Hotel check-out is at 10:00 AM. In case you need a late check-out before your evening flight, you have the option to extend your hotel stay for an extra fee. Let your manager know in advance if you need a late check-out.
Please Note:
- By default our tours include shared accommodation in twin/double rooms, unless requested and agreed otherwise. Single supplement is available upon request. Please refer to the program to see your accommodation arrangements
- Moshi and Arusha-based accommodations usually include breakfast only, unless requested and agreed otherwise. Please refer to the program to see your meal plans on each night
- Most safari lodges usually do not include tea, coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks not to have you overpay for beverages you don’t need. You will be able to order and pay for drinks at the hotels’ restaurants
- Tented lodges are the most common type of accommodation in savannah. Many of them work on solar energy. This sometimes means bucket showers, limited wi-fi and no hair dryers, all in an effort to reduce environmental impact. We encourage you to do some basic research on the accommodations in your program to ensure the safari matches your travel style
